I am pleased to welcome you to the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Institute of Technology, University of Kashmir.
Since its inception in 2014 with the launch of the B.Tech programme and the introduction of the M.Tech programme in Power System and Control in 2022, the department has witnessed steady growth in its academic offerings, research activities, and student engagement. Today, we are proud to be one of the most active departments within the institute in terms of faculty strength, student enrollment, and academic ambition.
Our department is committed to providing a rigorous and forward-looking education in Electrical Engineering. We offer a balanced blend of theoretical foundations and practical exposure, with a particular emphasis on Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Power Electronics, and Control Engineering. In response to the evolving landscape of the discipline, we are also incorporating programming, data analytics, and simulation-based learning into our curriculum, preparing students for challenges at the intersection of traditional engineering and modern computational tools.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, a well-resourced computer lab, and dedicated faculty who are passionate about teaching, research, and mentorship. Our teaching philosophy encourages open dialogue, creativity, and hands-on learning. We are steadily building a culture of research, with faculty and students engaging in funded projects, technical workshops, and academic collaborations that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and industry-ready innovation.
We strive to create an inclusive academic environment that encourages excellence, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility. Our students are encouraged to go beyond the classroom—participating in technical competitions, research projects, and community outreach initiatives.
To our alumni, industry partners, and academic collaborators—we value your continued support and invite you to engage with us in shaping the department’s future. Your contributions, whether in the form of mentorship, research partnerships, or institutional ties, are essential to our progress.
As we look ahead, the Department of Electrical Engineering remains deeply committed to its mission of academic excellence, innovation, and nation-building through quality technical education and impactful research.
